The newly introduced hybrid (diesel) light truck introduced by Mitsubishi is the Canter Eco Hybrid. DaimlerChrysler AG of Germany owns 85 percent of Mitsubishi and hopes to sell several hundred trucks by the end of 2006.
Mitsubishis claims the Canter Eco Hybrid truck has the best fuel efficiency of any Japanese brand of hybrid electric commercial vehicle and is the first light duty truck to comply with Japan's stringent, upcoming 'long term emissions regulations.'
