Back to the topic of collections, I am a collector of collections. Knowing that there's a special knickknack out there awaiting a new home is thrilling. Hunting through the yard sales, second hand shops, and antique malls for a gewgaw is delightful challenge. The placement of a treasured trinket can be tricky. However, these are the things I must do to create a fresh flowing wellspring of inspirational patterns and subject matter for my art. My current loves are Japanese kokeshi dolls, contemporary Japanese woodblock prints, outsider art, funny old toys, vintage children's books, and weird wonders made of wood. I love looking at other people's collections. I just bought this book on the topic- Obsessions, Collectors and Their Passions, author Stephen Calloway . This is a great example of not judging a book by it's cover because the photos inside are incredible.
