Nevada has decided to promote plug-in hybrids, by allowing them solo driver access to the HOV lanes. Of course, it would help if there were any mass produced hybrids on the road today.

But, by unanimous vote, a Senate panel voted to allow plug-ins the right to travel in the HOV lane, irregardless of the number of passengers. The measure, if it becomes law, will promote plug-in hybrids and fuel efficiency. The bill was proposed to the Energy, Infrastructure and Transportation Committee by Assemblyman James Ohrenschall, D-Las Vegas.

I wonder if they've considered whether or not converted plug-ins could have access?

Nevada has 5 miles of HOV lanes in the state, although that will increase to 15 miles by the end of the year. Also the bill, as stated, makes the allowance optional, which means the authorities can disallow the usage by plug-in hybrids if they get too crowded.
