The Washington state budget is being set and tax breaks for hybrid cars may be out.
The Senate believes they could save $31 million over the next two years by removing the sales tax exemption on the sales of hybrid cars.
The hybrid car tax break in Washington just started on January 1st, 2009 and only covered cars that get 40 mpg or better. It also covered "neighborhood electric vehicles" and cars running on alternative fuels such as natural gas, propane and hydrogen.
