You need to remove a window on your Chevy Equinox van if it is cracked or broken. Having no window glass is better than the risk of broken glass shards (although you should replace any removed glass soon). You will also need to remove the glass if you have to replace the regulator and guide channels that control the window. Removing the window glass, as is the case with all vehicles, requires you to get inside the door itself.

Instructions

    1

Disconnect the negative battery cable; there are numerous electrical wires within the door. Loosen the black cable clamp nut with a wrench and remove the cable from the terminal.

    2

Remove all small trim panels from the door, including the mirror trim panel, the release handle trim and the pull handle trim. Some of these require a trim stick, while the release handle requires a screwdriver.

    3

Remove the mounting bolts that are behind the trim panels using a wrench, and pry the trim panel off the door with a trim stick.

    4

Peel off the watershield behind the trim panel.

    5

Pull the weatherstrip seal off the window opening at the top of the door.

    6

Lower the window until you can see the release tab at the bottom of the glass. Press this tab with a screwdriver and slide the glass down to remove it from the guide channels.

    7

Push and guide the window glass up while tilting it outward to slide it out the window opening and remove it.
