Function

    Rotors, also referred to as brake discs, are the circular portion of the brake assembly that the brake pads attach to for stopping the vehicle. Without a properly aligned rotor, the braking system may be compromised.

    It is possible to warp the rotors when torquing the lug nuts. The car's wheels are attached to the rotor through screw and lug nut assemblies. If the nuts are over-tightened, the resulting pressure can alter the shape of the rotor beneath.

Significance
