How to Change the Brake Discs on a 1994 Honda Accord

The brakes on the 1994 Honda Accord work by using hydraulic fluid to push on two brake pads, which then clamp down on a brake disc that is connect to the wheels. This, in turn, slows down the car. When the disc is damaged or severely worn down, the clamping down of the brake pads will not create sufficient stopping power or will cause the Accord to shake, sometimes violently, when braking. Replacing the brake discs in a 1994 Honda Accord will take a couple of hours and do-it-yourself tools.

Instructions

    1

Use a jack to lift up the front end of the Accord. Secure the front in place using two jack stands.

    2

Unbolt the lug nuts on the front tires using a tire iron, then pull off the wheels.

    3

Use a socket wrench with a 10mm socket to remove the two bolts on each caliper, then pull off the calipers.

    4

Pull the brake discs off of the Accord and slide the new ones on. If the brake discs do not come off easily, use WD-40 to remove some of the rust and try again to remove them.

    5

Slide the calibers onto the new brake discs then bolt them in place with the bolts you removed earlier.

    6

Slide the wheels back onto the car and tighten them using the lug nuts and a tire iron.

    7

Remove the jack stands and lower the front end of the car with the jack.

    8

Repeat the entire process on the rear wheels of the Accord.

    9

Top off the brake fluid reservoir with brake fluid.
