SC & ST Vacancies in the CPSEs Falling Under the Department of Heavy Industries and the Efforts to fill up these Vacancies

As on date, 285 posts earmarked for SCs and 423 posts earmarked for STs are lying vacant in the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) under the Department of Heavy Industry of the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, Shri Praful Patel, Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, said that most of the CPSEs having vacant posts for reserved category are sick/ loss making and have been referred to BIFR. No recruitment is being made in these CPSEs. In other CPSEs, the vacant posts of reserved category are due to non-availability of suitable candidates in spite of repeated advertisements/efforts.



Shri Patel informed the House that in addition to the normal recruitment process, Special Recruitment Drives were launched to fill up these vacant posts as per the instructions of Department of Personnel & Training.
