Contrary to recent reports, the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date will not be held on February 23 as new Tizen devices are tipped for unveiling.

While in recent weeks it has been suggested that Samsung will unveil its new flagship phone during a pre-MWC 2014 conference, new reports out of the company’s native Korea have now claimed that the eagerly awaited handset will now not touch down until mid-March.

According to reports from the Korean arm of ZDNet, Samsung has started issuing invites to its February 23 press conference, with its first Tizen OS powered set to be the main focus of the day.

“Please join the Tizen Association Board on Sunday, 23 February 2014 for a welcome reception and kick-off to MWC 2014,” the Samsung issued invite is reported to read.

“During this invite only event, you will get an exclusive sneak preview of the newest Tizen devices as well as an opportunity to learn about the major milestones that the Tizen project has hit since last year’s event.”

While the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date is now not expected for a further few weeks, a raft of Samsung Galaxy S5 rumours have already started doing the rounds.

With a 5.2-inch display tipped for inclusion alongside a 2K resolution, it has been suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will sport an all new design, Android 4.4 KitKat innards and a speedy Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor.
