The Windows 8.1 Update 1 has leaked online ahead of its release date in March, revealing several new improvements.

Ahead of its official March release date, the first update for Windows 8.1 has appeared on a number of file sharing websites.

Don’t expect much from the Windows 8.1 Update 1 though, as it is mostly being used to improve the keyboard and mouse experience with the latest Microsoft OS.

The most obvious addition is a change to the title bar of the Windows 8 apps, allowing you to minimise, close and snap apps together with your mouse.

It’s only a tiny addition to your screen but a helpful one, as it will allow easier navigation for those using a mouse with Windows 8.1.

The Star Screen has also been given a slight modification in that you can right click on Live Tiles to bring up a new context menu. This offers options to unpin, resize and further adjust the Live Tiles using your mouse.

Update 1 also brings the search button and shutdown options to the Windows 8.1 Start Screen.

Microsoft still hasn’t made any attempt to bring the time and date to the Start Screen, or even incorporate it into the new menu bar for Metro apps with Update 1.

A Control Panel link has also been added to the PC settings section, and a new option in the desktop taskbar setting offers the option to display Store Apps.

There isn’t any other significant changes being brought with the Windows 8.1 Update 1, but the leaked version is one that has been compiled on January 14.

There may well be other tweaks coming with the final version when it is released on March 11, ahead of the Microsoft Build developers conference in April.

Microsoft is expected to reveal the first official details about Windows 9 at the Build conference.
