According to the press realease: Nissan and ZF have collaborated to demonstrate the potential of hybrid engine technology application on a commercial vehicle. ZF has developed a parallel hybrid powertrain with an electric motor powered by an ion-lithium battery supplementing the Cabstar’s conventional 3.0-litre common-rail diesel developing 150PS (110kW). The Hybrid Cabstar is expected to cut fuel consumption by up to 30%.

The Cabstar is a light commercial truck run on diesel in Europe. As with all commercial trucks, hybrid technology could make a huge difference in the long term savings for commercial ventures which is why companies like UPS are spending so much money on research into the technology.

The current Cabstar comes in at 3,550 kg with a curb weight of over 1400 kg. The fuel tank capacity sits at 50 L while it seats 2. It has maximum power of 70kW (95.2PS) and a maximum torque of 210 Nm (21.4 kg-m).
