The 1995 Jeep Wrangler was offered in a trim package called the Rio Grande, which was based on a 1995 Wrangler body and frame, with two doors and a four-wheel drive drivetrain. The 1995 Rio Grande was equipped with a 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder engine and a manual transmission. The taillights are mounted outside the body of the Jeep. Accessing the taillight bulbs involves disassembling the taillight housing assembly partially.
Instructions
- 1
Remove the four small screws from the taillight housing lens using a small Phillips screwdriver. Carefully remove the taillight lens from the assembly so you do not damage or move the gasket.
2Turn the bulbs counterclockwise in their stationary bulb sockets within the assembly and remove the bulbs by hand.
3Install a new 1157 brake light bulb into the vertical bulb socket. Turn the bulb clockwise by hand to lock it into the socket. Install a new 1156 reverse light bulb into the horizontal socket, on the rear wall of the taillight assembly.
4Install the taillight lens onto the assembly, making sure none of the gasket is out of place. Install the four mounting screws and tighten them snug with your Phillips screwdriver. Do not over-tighten the screws or you might break the taillight lens.
5Repeat Steps 1 through 4 to complete the taillight replacement on the second side of the Wrangler Rio Grande.
