The Pontiac Grand Prix's storied history dates back to 1962, when Pontiac first released the full-size sedan. By time 1990 rolled around, the Grand Prix had undergone many changes. The biggest change in the 1990 model year was the addition of a four-door model. The 1990 Grand Prix's turn signal system used a small relay, called a turn signal relay, to make the turn signal bulb flash off and on when the driver engaged the turn signals. When the flasher fails, the turn signal turns on, but it remains on instead of flashing as it's supposed to. Replacing the flasher relay is fairly easy, once you locate it.

Instructions

Locating the Turn Signal Flasher

    1

Adjust the driver's seat as far back as it goes.

    2

Search under the driver's side of the dashboard and locate the steering column -- the long shaft going from the steering wheel through the firewall.

    3

Look to the driver's side of the steering column support bracket to locate the turn signal flasher -- a roughly 2-inch-long cylinder plugging into a socket (see resources for image).

Replacing the Turn Signal FLasher

    4

Grab the turn signal flasher and pull it downward with a slight wiggling motion to remove it.

    5

Line the prongs on the new flasher up with the receptacle to the right of the steering column bracket.

    6

Push the turn signal flasher into the receptacle.
