How to Replace the Rotors on a 2002 Jeep Wrangler

The 2002 Jeep Wrangler is a versatile vehicle that came standard equipped with disc brakes. Although it is common to have to change out brake shoes on a regular basis, rotors tend to last longer and do not usually need to be replaced unless they have been damaged. Driving with worn out brake shoes can cause damage to the rotors on your Wrangler, so when this happens they need to be replaced.

Instructions

Loosen the lug nuts on your Wrangler.

Jack up your Wrangler and place it on the jack stands. Finish removing the lug nuts and pull the tires off.

Remove the brake caliper retaining bolts. On your Wrangler, they are located on the inside of the wheel. Pull the brake caliper up and off the top of the rotor.

Locate the single retaining bolt that holds the rotor in place. It is also located on the inside of the wheel. Pull the old rotor off.

Slide the new rotor on and reverse the steps.
