Installing a window on your automobile is a process that a DIY mechanic should be able to accomplish rather easily. The procedure involves inserting the new window glass into the window frame and connecting the glass securely to the window regulator. The installation procedure is pretty much the same for all vehicles. If you feel you are up to the task, plan on spending about an hour on this project.

Instructions

    1

Go to the car door with the window that you intend to repair. Pull the handle and open the door fully.

    2

Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door panel to the door frame. Some of the screws may be concealed by plastic covers. In this case, use a small blade or flat-head screwdriver to pry off the covers and then remove the exposed screws. Lift the panel away from the door and put it aside for later reassembly.

    3

Locate the window regulator; it is just below the window frame. Move the regulator to its lowest possible position within the door's access panel.

    4

Slide the new window glass into the door frame. Align the hex-bolt holes on the bottom of the window with those on the window regulator. Tighten the hex bolts between the holes on both components to secure them together.

    5

Reattach the door panel to the door by placing it on the door frame and refastening the mounting screws. Open and close the window to verify that it is installed correctly.
