Toyota looks to roll out a cheaper and smaller hybrid system by 2008. They hope to double production to 600,000 vehicles a year at that point. By making the hybrid system smaller, they hope to cut costs on new cars. Toyota currently has 8 vehicles with hybrid systems available. They hope to increase that to the whole line.Toyota currently makes 250,000 hybrid vehicles a year. They plan on increasing output to 350-400K a year next year by addition of the Camry being built in Kentucky and the Prius being built in China.
