Toyota has the most hybrids models on the road. GM has introduced several mild hybrids, and is in the midst of rolling out another five full hybrids in the next year. Ford has three hybrids already on the road. Nissan has only one hybrid car so far, the Altima hybrid. And that was possible only by putting Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive in.

Nissan has been cautious in its entry to the hybrid car marketplace, looking for some way to make a profit of the emerging technology. As it stands, Nissan doesn't want to spend the money developing its own hybrid system, but has said it will have its own hybrid engine by 2010 (or so).

Which is where Bosch comes in. Nissan and Bosch have started talks on development and procurement of hybrid vehicle systems. According to the report from MarketWatch, the talks hinge on Bosch agreeing to develop the system in Japan.
