The headliner in your 1992 Ford Ranger is a flexible piece of thick cardboard covered in a thin fabric. The fabric is glued to the headliner board by adhesive that breaks down over time. It may start to sag or come down altogether, causing the headliner to look bad and possibly get in your way while you're driving. You can do your own headliner and make it look like new.
Instructions

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws from the visor bases and the overhead handle on the passenger side. Use a flat screwdriver to gently pry the plastic trim away from the dome light, the overhead console and over each door. These plastic pieces pop out of place with gentle pressure.
2Pull the headliner and board out of the Ranger in one piece. Turn the headliner sideways to get it out the door. Dont bend the headliner board or it will break. Lay it on a flat surface.
3Remove the headliner fabric by pulling it off with your hands. If the fabric is not sagging or falling off, which would cause wrinkles and bumps in the new headliner fabric, you can leave it on and put the new fabric on top of it.
4Place the new headliner material on top of the headliner board. Lift up the new material and fold it over on itself so that half of the underside is exposed. Spray the headliner board and back side of the new headliner with spray adhesive. Let the adhesive dry for five minutes. Fold the material back over and smooth it over the headliner board with your hands to remove any wrinkles. Repeat this step for the other half of the headliner.
5Turn the headliner board over. Use scissors to trim the overhanging material to 2 or 3 inches. Cut slits in the material near corners so that it lays flat on the headliner board.
6Cut out the holes for the dome light and console. Make small cuts for the screws for the visors and handle. Spray the back side of the overlapping material with spray adhesive and let it dry for five minutes. Fold it over onto the back side of the headliner board and press it down. Do this for the edges at the cutout holes as well.
7Put the headliner back into the Ranger and install all of the parts you removed. Replace the screws for the visors and handle. Push the plastic trim back into place until it snaps.
