Carter Brothers Manufacturing Company has been making mini-bikes, go-karts and buggies since 1967. Since that time they have manufactured over 1.5 million go-karts to date. The Carter Buggy is an off-road, four-wheeled vehicle that is slightly larger than a go-kart and can maneuver through difficult terrains. Over time, the reverse cable can wear out on the karts and buggies. If this happens, they can be replaced at home.

Instructions

    1

Remove the buggy's spark plug wire with a pair of pliers.

    2

Use the open-end wrench to loosen the first and second adjusting nut at the bottom back side of the reverse lever.

    3

Pull the cable free from the shift lever with the pliers.

    4

Trace the reverse cable to the rear end of the buggy to the gear shift yoke. Remove the nut holding the old cable in place and slide the end of the cable out from the gear shift yoke with the wrench. Insert one end of the new reverse cable into the gear shift yoke and tighten the yoke nut with the wrench.

    5

Run the other end of the reverse cable to the reverse lever. Slip the end of the cable through the first and second adjustment nuts and then into the shifter. Leave about a half-inch of free play in the cable and then tighten both adjustment nuts.

    6

Replace the buggy's spark plug wire, start the buggy and then test the new reverse cable out.
