The rear seat for your 2000 Oldsmobile Alero consists of two main sections; the seat-back and bottom cushion. Performing certain repair or replacement procedures, such as replacing the rear speakers, will require the removal of the rear seat components. The rear seat cushion features two quick-release clips, designed to secure the front half of the cushion to the floor pan. Failure to properly clip the rear seat cushion may cause unnecessary damage to the covering, in addition to posing a potential safety hazard for occupants seated at the rear.

Instructions

    1

Slide the front seats to the forward position. Fold the front seat-backs to provide additional working space.

    2

Position the rear seat cushion over the seating area of the rear floor pan. Hold the rear seat safety belt fasteners above the rear seat cushion and slide the cushion in place, making sure the safety belt fasteners are positioned correctly between the middle slots located at the rear of the cushion.

    3

Examine the two quick-release clips, located on the front side of the cushion. Adjust the position of the seat cushion until the quick-release clips align with the corresponding retainers on the floor pan.

    4

Lower the seat cushion, making sure the quick-release clips insert properly into the floor pan retainers; press down on each side of the seat cushion to lock it in place. Sit on both sides of the seat cushion for added measure.

    5

Grasp the front portion of the seat cushion and lift upward to ensure the locking mechanisms are properly engaged.

    6

Readjust the front seats to complete the installation process.
