The blower motor spins at various speeds to send air through the vents. Over time debris can accumulate in the fan and cause noise and excessive drag on the motor, causing it to stop functioning. Signs of a failing blower motor are ticking or squealing noises and intermittent operation. The blower motor on the 1997 Honda Accord is located below the dashboard on the passenger side. A failed blower motor can be replaced quickly with a few simply hand tools.
