The Dodge Neon was introduced in 1995 and was equipped with a 2.0-liter in-line four-cylinder engine. The blower motor in the 1995 Neon is responsible for air circulation pressure throughout the cabin. There are two types of blower motors on the 1995 Neon. One is for the Neon equipped with air conditioning, the other for the Neon without. There are separate directions for each type of motor, because replacement of both motors is different.
Instructions
Blower Motor Replacement With Air Conditioning
- 1
Open the hood on the Neon and set the hood prop. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery using a ratchet and socket.
2Open the passenger door of the Neon. Pull the kick plate off of the side of the door jamb using a flathead screwdriver. Peel the carpet back from the passenger foot area, toward the passenger seat.
3Determine where the blower motor wiring meets the floor of the vehicle. Press downward on the wheel sound deadening pad to find the wires. Cut a line in the pad next to the wiring. Peel the sound deadening pad upward to expose the blower motor wiring and electrical connector. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor wiring.
4Remove the three blower motor retaining screws from beneath the glove box area of the passenger side. Pull the blower motor from the ventilation housing by hand. Visually mark the directions that the wires come out of the old blower.
5Install the new blower motor into the ventilation housing, with the wire exiting in the same direction as the old blower. Install the three mounting screws, and tighten them snug using a Phillips or Torx screwdriver.
6Connect the blower motor wiring to the electrical connector by hand. Tuck the wiring back underneath the sound deadening padding. Use masking tape or foil backed tap to seal the knife slit you made in the sound deadening material. Fold the carpet back over the passenger floor, and pull it taught beneath the glove box area. Install the plastic kick plate by hand, using the side of your closed fist to tap the plate back onto the body clips.
7Proceed to the front of the Neon. Connect the battery cable to the battery, and tighten it snug with a ratchet and socket.
