Keep your 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT safe and road-legal by replacing a burned out headlight bulb as soon as possible. The 2001 Grand Am GT is a mid-sized car powered by a transverse-mounted V-6 engine driving its front wheels. The aerodynamic plastic headlights blend into the surrounding bodywork and contain replaceable halogen bulbs. Remove or replace the entire headlight in just a few minutes without the need of tools.

Instructions

Driver's Side Headlight

    1

Open the hood. Find the two plastic retaining tabs on top of the driver's side headlight assembly.

    2

Pull the headlight assembly straight out of its mounting bracket. Use care not to damage or stretch the headlight wiring, still attached to the backside of the assembly.

    3

Twist the circular headlight bulb housing on the backside of the assembly one-sixth of a turn in a counterclockwise direction.

    4

Pull the bulb housing straight out of the headlight assembly.

    5

Push the wire tab that secures the bulb to the bulb housing to the side. Lift the bulb straight out of the housing and discard it.

    6

Grasp a replacement 9007 halogen headlight bulb by its base and push it into the bulb housing. Push the wire tab over the backside of the bulb until it locks into place.

    7

Push the bulb housing into the backside of the headlight assembly and twist it approximately one-sixth turn in a clockwise direction until it locks into place.

    8

Push the headlight assembly back into its mounting bracket on the car. Push down on the two plastic retaining tabs to secure the assembly to the bracket. Pull out on the headlight with your fingers to ensure a secure installation.

    9

    Close the hood.

Parking Light and Turn-Signal

    10

Replace the 3157A combination parking light and turn-signal bulb by removing the headlight assembly in the same way as when replacing a headlight. The front parking lights are part of the outboard edge of the 2001 Grand Am's headlight assembly

    11

Twist out the bulb retainer from the back of the head light, and then pull the bulb straight out of the retainer.

    12
