The YJ, more commonly known as the Jeep Wrangler, has a roll bar used to stabilize the vehicle. Many owners may choose to take out these roll bars from their Wranglers because, although they help stabilize the vehicle, they also allow for some loss of control. The Wrangler's roll bar is held in place by a couple of Torx bolts, but occasionally, these Torx bolts become damaged due to rust or the weather. In this case, you will need to use a blow torch and impact wrench to remove them.

Instructions

    1

Lift up the Wrangler with a jack. Place two jack stands underneath the front portion of the Wrangler to support the frame.

    2

Crawl underneath the Jeep and locate the bolts on the roll bar.

    3

Use a blow torch to heat the bolts until they are red. Once the bolts are hot, they become more malleable.

    4

Use an impact wrench to remove the bolts from the roll bar. Once all of the bolts are removed, you can pull off the roll bar.

    5

Lower the Jeep off the jack stands with the jack.
