In 1973, Honda had its first commercial automotive success with the Civic, so the maker stretched its bounds by releasing the larger Accord. Despite Honda featuring the Accord as its larger vehicle, the vehicle only came with a four-cylinder engine for its first 21 production years. The 1995 model year was a marquee year for the Accord, as this was the first time Honda offered its midsized sedan with an optional V-6 engine. The 1995 Accord also had an optional AM-FM, cassette audio system available. Removing the cassette player from the 1995 Accord requires moving the center console slightly, but is something most home mechanics can complete.

Instructions

    1

Open the center console's door, and find the small access panel on the bottom of the center console storage area. Pry upward on the access panel with a flat-head screwdriver and pull the panel out of the center console. Remove the two screws located under the access panel, using a Phillips screwdriver.

    2

Open the cup holder door, if needed, and pull the cup holder insert -- the plastic piece that holds the cups -- upward to remove it. Remove the three screws located below where the cup holder insert once was, using a Phillips screwdriver.

    3

Press the sides of the center console closest to the gear shifter inward, and pull it rearward just about 2 to 3 inches -- just enough to access the two screws behind the gear shifter. Remove the two screws securing the dash bezel -- the plastic trim surrounding the gear shifter and the radio -- behind the gear shifter, using a Phillips screwdriver.

    4

Grab the ashtray firmly, and pull it straight out of the dashboard. Remove the screw behind where the ashtray once was, using a Phillips screwdriver.

    5

Pull upward on the rearmost part of the dash bezel and pull the entire bezel rearward to disengage the retaining clips around the radio area. Remove the bezel and set it in a secure area.

    6

Remove the two screws securing the radio and its pocket underneath to the metal bracket, using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the radio from the dashboard just enough so you can reach the wiring on the rear of the radio.

    7

Press and hold the locking button on the radio's wiring harness, and pull the wiring harness from the rear of the radio. Grab the antenna wire -- the thick, black wire -- and pull it from the radio with a slight twisting motion. Pull the radio from the dashboard.

    8

Plug the wiring harness into the rear of the cassette player, and press the antenna wire into its receptacle on the rear of the radio. Slide the radio and pocket assembly into the dashboard, and tighten the two radio-retaining screws, using a Phillips screwdriver.

    9

Set the dash bezel back in place over the gear shifter, and line up the clips on the bezel with the slots around the radio area. Lightly strike the dash bezel with the palm of your hand to engage the clips into the slots.

    10

Tighten the screw behind where the ashtray goes, using a Phillips screwdriver, and slide the ashtray back into place. Tighten the two bezel-retaining screws behind the gear shifter with the Phillips screwdriver.

    11

Line the tabs on the front part of the center console up with the slots behind the gear shifter. Slide the center console forward until the tabs click into place.

    12

Tighten the three screws under where the cup holder goes, using a Phillips screwdriver, and set the cup holder insert back into place. Tighten the two screws inside the center console storage area, using a Phillips screwdriver, and press the access panel back into the center console storage area. Close the center console's door.
