A broken antenna on the 2006 Volvo can put a damper on your road trip, especially if you're depending on the radio for traffic and weather reports. The Volvo antenna is built into the rear passenger side of the car. Several simple repairs can be attempted to fix the antenna. The first is to troubleshoot the fuse that controls the radio and antenna. The second is to check the connections between the antenna motor and the antenna base.

Open the hood and remove the negative battery cable with the wrench.
2Open the fuse box locate near the battery compartment. Examine the back of the Volvo's fuse cover lid. Locate the radio antenna/antenna fuse. It is a blue 15-amp plastic fuse.
3Pull out the fuse with the pliers. Slip a replacement fuse into the fuse slot.
4Replace the fuse cover.
5Re-install the negative battery cable with the wrench and try the radio. If the radio and antenna do not work, go to the next step.
6Pop the trunk and examine where the antenna cable runs, from the base of the antenna on to the antenna motor. If either of the plastic wire harnesses are disconnected, plug them in.
