The 2006 model year marked the end of the line for the Stratus, as Dodge discontinued it the following model year. The 2006 Stratus came standard with a 150-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and had an optional 200-horsepower, 2.7-liter V-6 available. Both engines used a manifold absolute pressure sensor to monitor the vacuum level in the manifold, which in turn allowed the powertrain control module to adjust injector pulse and ignition timing. Because the MAP sensor uses a silicone sensing unit, harsh cleaners can cause more damage than good. For this reason, you cannot clean the sensor, making replacement the only option for a failed MAP sensor.

Instructions

Removal 2.4-Liter Engine

    1

Open the Stratuss hood and look behind the alternator and find the MAP sensor toward the front of the intake manifold.

    2

Unplug the MAP sensors wiring harness.

    3

Note the positioning of the MAP sensor, as you need to install the new sensor in the same manner. Remove the two MAP sensor-to-intake manifold screws, using a ratchet and socket. Lift the MAP sensor upward and out of the intake manifold.

Installation 2.4-Liter Engine

    4

Guide the new MAP sensor into the intake manifold, so it is in the exact same positioning the old one was in.

    5

Hand-thread the two MAP sensor screws, then snug them with a ratchet and socket.

    6

Plug the wiring harness into the MAP sensors receptacle.

Removal 2.7-Liter Engine

    7

Open the vehicles hood and trace the upper radiator hose toward the rear of the engine compartment until you find where it connects to the water outlet housing the component connecting the hose to the engine.

    8

Look above the water outlet housing and toward the front of the engine about 3 inches to find the MAP sensor bolted to the intake manifold plenum the plastic component on the top, rear of the engine.

    9

Unplug the wiring harness from the MAP sensor and remove the MAP sensor retaining bolts, using a ratchet and socket. Pull the MAP sensor from the intake manifold.

Installation 2.7-Liter Engine

    10

Press the new MAP sensor into the intake manifold plenum and hand-thread its retaining screw.

    11

Tighten the retaining bolts to 40 inch-pounds, using am inch-pound torque wrench and socket.

    12

Plug the wiring harness into the MAP sensors receptacle.
