A Moose setup is a term that commonly refers to the stator assembly manufactured by Moose Racing, an American company that specializes in all-terrain vehicle parts and accessories. The Moose stator setup is used on Honda and Yamaha ATVs. The stator, a metal ring wrapping around the flywheel, works with the ignition and battery to charge the alternator. Setup, or installation of the Moose stator assembly, takes approximately 30 minutes.
Instructions
- 1
Loosen and take off the ATV's negative battery cable using the socket set.
2Use the socket set to open the crank case cover on the left hand side of the ATV and then pry the cover off. Use an Allen wrench to remove the retaining hex nuts.
3Pull the old stator out and unplug it from the wiring harness. Plug the Moose stator into the wring harness and place it back flat inside the case cover.
4Insert and tighten the retaining hex nuts with the Allen wrench.
5Hold the crank case cover back in position on the side of the engine and tighten the retaining bolts.
6Replace the ATV's negative battery cable with the socket set.
