The SC 300 is a luxury sedan manufactured by Toyota and retailed under the Lexus brand name beginning in 1992. The 1995 SC 300 uses a seperntine belt to run essential belts and pulleys. A serpentine system uses a single belt to run all the pulleys. To access the belt the tensioner must be loosened. If the tensioner ever becomes stripped or damaged in any other way, it will not keep the proper tension needed to run the serpentine belt and will need to be replaced.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood of the Lexus and remove the negative battery cable with the socket set.

    2

Locate the Lexus tensioner on the front passenger side of the engine compartment. Use a socket set with a breaker bar slipped over the ratchet handle to loosen the center bolt on the tensioner. This will release pressure on the belt. Once loose, pull the serpentine belt off the pulley.

    3

Remove the two bolts that hold the tensioner onto the engine with the socket set and then carefully lift the tensioner out.
