When Chevrolet dropped the "S10" from the compact Blazer in 1995, it started a domino effect in Chevrolet's lineup. This change meant that Chevrolet had to change the name of the full-sized Blazer, to avoid confusion, and replace it with the Tahoe. The 2001 Tahoe, which Chevrolet based on the Silverado, came standard with a 275-horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8 engine. Just like the Silverado pickups, the 2001 Tahoe's high-mount stop light sits on the roof of the SUV, making a ladder a requirement when changing this bulb.
Instructions
- 1
Set a 6-foot step ladder directly behind the rear of the Tahoe. Climb up the ladder and remove the six screws holding the high-mount stop light assembly to the top of the Tahoe, using a Phillips screwdriver.
2Pull the stop light upward, off of the top of the Tahoe, and disconnect the wiring harness from the bottom of the light.
3Climb down the ladder. Twist the socket on the bottom of the stop light counterclockwise and pull the socket and bulb from the assembly.
4Pull the bulb from the socket with a slight wiggling motion. Grab a new 194 bulb, using a clean, lint-free cloth, and press the bulb into the socket. Do not touch the bulb with your bare hands, as the oil from your hands may cause premature bulb failure.
5Climb up the ladder and plug the wiring into the bottom of the assembly. Set the assembly in place and tighten the six screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
