The CRF250R is a dirt bike manufactured by Honda Motor Company. The CRF250R has a single-cylinder four-cycle engine. The spark supplied by the spark plug is what creates combustion between the fuel and oxygen within the engine. A bad spark plug can negatively impact engine performance or keep the motorcycle from starting entirely. Checking the spark is a regular part of maintenance for the CRF250R. It takes about an hour to check for a spark.
Instructions
- 1
Remove the seat and trim panels with the socket set to access the spark plug.
2Pull the spark plug wire from the plug with a pair of pliers. Remove the plug with a spark plug wrench.
3Inspect the plug for damage. If the plug is dirty, clean it with a wire brush and then reinstall the plug.
4Attach the end of the spark plug tester to the top of the Honda's plug and the other end of the tester to the plug wire.
5Start the Honda and monitor the plug tester's gap. Inconsistent firing is a sign that you are not getting a good spark and the plug should be replaced.
