Replacing the carpet and seats in your automobile enhances its interior and value. The job can be completed within a couple of hours. Consider durability when you shop for new automobile carpet.
Instructions
- 1
Search and locate the bolts that hold the automobile's front seats to the frame. Each seat will have four bolts. Check the bolts to determine what size of socket you will need. Remove the bolts.
2Disconnect any wires under the seat by pulling apart their plastic connector. Take out the front seats.
3Remove the bolts that secure the back seat to the frame. There are three of these, located near the rear seat belt connectors. Once all the bolts are removed, the only things holding the seat to the frame are plastic snaps, which are directly under the front edge of the seat. Remove these by gently applying pressure. Remove the back seat.
4Look near the edges of the floorboard for additional plastic snap-in pieces that are holding the carpet down. Pull slightly on the pieces to remove them. Pull the carpet out of the automobile.
5Cut the new carpet to fit the floorboard. Be sure to cut holes for the seat bolts. Place the carpet flat in the car.
6Put the new seats in the car. Reconnect the seat wires and replace the seat bolts. Once the seats are secured, snap the plastic pieces back in.
