The 2009 movie Fast and the Furious brought about an increased demand for aftermarket body kits for automobiles. Plastic body kits are a cheaper alternative to fiberglass kits and are also more lightweight. Unfortunately, plastic body kits crack when hit with force. You dont have to worry about the crack in your new body kit. Apply a bonding agent to the crack to reinforce it and make it seem like the crack was never there.
Instructions
- 1
Wash the area to remove any dust or debris, using dish detergent and a sponge. Allow the area to dry for one hour.
2Find the ends of the cracks in the plastic. Drill a 1/16-inch hole into the ends of the cracks, using a power drill and 1/16-inch drill bit. The hole relieves the pressure from the crack and prevents it from spreading.
3Insert a toothpick into the end of the crack to lift the cracked pieces.
4Brush the plastic bonding agent between the cracked pieces of the body kit. Press the pieces together.
5Cut 1-inches pieces of aluminum body tape and attach the pieces together to secure the cracks while the bond dries. Allow it to dry approximately 10 hours.
