How to Remove the Driver-Side Door Panel From an 03 Dodge Intrepid

The 2003 Dodge Intrepid was available in an SE, ES, and SXT model package. The SE was the base model, equipped with a 2.7-liter, 200-horsepower V-6. The ES and SXT models were equipped with optional engine packages, such as the 3.5-liter, 232-horsepower V-6 or the 3.5-liter HO, 250-horsepower V-6. All 2003 Intrepid trim levels were equipped with power windows and door locks. The door panel removal process is the same for all trims.

Instructions

    1

Open the driver's door of the Intrepid. Kneel down near the bottom of the door. Remove the three mounting screws from below the small door pocket, using the Torx bit or star bit driver.

    2

Remove the small triangular cover, which covers the inner workings of the side-view mirrors, from the upper front of the door panel. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw in the center of the small cover, then pull the cover free from the door frame.

    3

Remove the bolts from the center of the door puller arm rest and the inside door handle assembly, using a Torx driver.

    4

Turn the ignition key to the "II" or accessories position, and roll the driver's window down. Rolling the window down will aid in the release of the door panel at the top.

    5

Pull the bottom of the door panel upward and away from the door frame. Remove the entire door panel by pulling the panel up and forward toward the front of the car. The door handle gusset is incorporated into the door panel via plastic welds. Be careful not to damage this part, as replacement of the door panel will then be necessary.

    6

Hold the removed door panel approximately 5 to 6-inches away from the door frame. Reach behind the door panel and unplug the window switch panel connector. Reach down toward the lower front of the door panel and unplug the speaker wire connector.

    7

Completely remove the door panel from the Intrepid.

    8

Installation of the door panel is the complete reversal of this removal process.
