Properly wiring the stereo for your 2003 Pontiac Grand Am will ensure that your audio system will perform and operate in a correct manner. Failure to correctly wire the vehicle's original radio after performing dash-related repairs, or when replacing a previously installed aftermarket unit, may provide an unnecessary amount of additional work and frustration.
Instructions
Stereo Removal

Apply the parking brake and place the gear selector to the LOW position.
2Open the vehicle's hood and disconnect the black-colored negative battery cable from the battery's - terminal, using a socket and ratchet.
3Remove the ignition switch trim ring, using a trim removal tool. Pry around the perimeter of the radio trim bezel, using the trim tool. Slide the bezel out of the center console and disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear; place the bezel to the side.
4Remove the three bolts securing the stereo to the dash console, using a socket, extension and ratchet.
5Slide the stereo from the dash to expose the wiring at the rear. Disconnect the harness connector and antenna cable from the rear of the stereo. Remove the stereo from the vehicle.
Stereo Installation

Connect the harness connector to the corresponding female connection point, located at the rear of the stereo. Due the the design of the connector, accidentally reversing the connection is not possible.
7Connect the antenna cable to the rear of the stereo.
8Slide the stereo into the dash opening. Secure the stereo to the dash with the original hex-head screws, using a socket, extension and ratchet.
9Reconnect the accessory electrical connectors to the rear of the bezel. Press-fit the bezel to the dash console.
10Replace the ignition switch trim ring.
11Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery, using a socket and ratchet.
12Place the gear selector in the P position and disengage the parking brake.
