How do I Change the Front Rotors on a Lexus ES300?

Changing the front rotors on the Lexus ES300 is not difficult. You need to make sure that rotors remain in good condition so the brake will remain effective. The brake rotors work along with the brake pads and calipers to slow and stop the Lexus with friction. If the brake pads are not able to grip the rotors securely, they will not stop the car effectively. Likewise, grooves in the rotors will make the brake pads wear more quickly than they otherwise would. Replacing the rotors in your ES300 should take about 30 minutes for each wheel.

Instructions

    1

Park the Lexus on a level surface and place the wheel chocks behind the rear wheels. Raise the car with the jack. Place a jack stand under the car near the lifting point and raise the stand to the frame.

    2

Remove the lug nuts from the wheel with the lug wrench. Pull the wheel off the car. Loosen the bolts on the brake caliper with a socket and ratchet. Pull the caliper off the mounting bracket and secure it to the strut using a wire tie. Pull the brake rotor off the Lexus wheel assembly.

    3

Put the new rotor on the ES300. Cut the wire tie holding the brake caliper to the strut, using the pliers. Place the caliper on the mounting bracket and tighten the bolts with the socket and ratchet. Reposition the wheel on the Lexus and tighten the nuts with the lug wrench.

    4

Remove the jack stand from under the car. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Repeat the process on the other wheel.
