The VF-700 was the first-generation motorcycle manufactured by Honda in the Magna family that was powered by a V-4 engine. The VF-700 also had a 3.70-capacity fuel tank, front dual disc brakes and a liquid cooling system. The carburetor on the VF-700 is adjustable with high- and low-speed adjustment screws on the outside of the carburetor. If the VF-700 idles too high or low, adjust the carburetor before pursuing further maintenance or repairs.

Instructions

    1

Insert a Phillips screwdriver into the VF-700's low-speed adjustment screw on the left side. Turn the screw clockwise until it cannot turn any more. Turn the screw one full turn counterclockwise.

    2

Start the motorcycle and allow it to run for five minutes. Adjust the low-speed screw to the left if it running low or to the right slightly if it is still idling high. Normal idle speed is approximately 1,200 rpms.

    3

Grab the throttle on the handlebars and turn it slowly but evenly, giving the motorcycle gas. Release the throttle and turn the high-speed screw fully to the right.

    4

Turn the high-speed screw one-and-a-half turns toward the left and rev the throttle again. Turn the high-speed screw slightly to the right to increase the idle, if necessary. Turn the high-speed screw slightly to the left if the idle is too high.
