Chevrolet brought the Monte Carlo into the driving world in 1970. By 1998, the two-door coupe was enjoying its fifth generation as one of General Motors favored models. The Monte Carlo's long doors house the power window and door lock components, accessed through holes in the inner door skin. The door panel hides these unsightly components and also offers a measure of sound deadening for the passenger compartment. Before any repairs commence on interior door components, you'll have to take off the door panel.

Instructions

    1

Remove the inner door handle bezel retaining screw with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the bezel out from behind the inner door handle. Disconnect the Monte Carlo's power lock switch from the wiring harness and then set the bezel aside.

    2

Pry the power window switch bezel out of the door panel with a trim tool. Disconnect the power window switch from the wiring harness and set the bezel aside.

    3

Pry the trim bezel above the armrest out of the door panel with a trim tool. Remove the retaining screw located behind the trim bezel using a No. 30 Torx driver.

    4

Remove the four door panel retaining screws from the outer edges of the door panel with a Phillips screwdriver.

    5

Lift the door panel up 1 inch and then take it off the door.

    6

Re-install the door panel opposite of the way in which it was removed.
