How to Reinstall a Side Mirror

Once you have removed the side view mirror, reinstalling it should be a fairly quick process. Removing the door panel is usually the most time-consuming part of replacing a side mirror, and much of that is just locating the door panel fasteners. But with the door panel already removed and a new mirror ready to be installed, there aren't many steps left to complete this repair. The door panel should even go on quickly because all the hidden fasteners will be exposed while the door panel is removed.

Instructions

Reinstalling a Side Mirror

    1

Place the mirror in its location on the outside of the door, and install the three screws that hold the mirror to the door. They will screw in from the inside of the door through the area revealed when the triangular mirror trim panel was removed.

    2

Plug the electrical connector from the mirror into the electrical connector from the door if the mirror is a power mirror.

    3

Test the mirror movements to make sure that it operates correctly.

    4

Reinstall the door panel if it was removed to access the electrical connector. Do this by positioning the door panel in place and tapping any fasteners with a rubber mallet that had to be pried loose. Screw in any screw fasteners, and then push in any decorative caps that may hide fastener holes.

    5

Push the triangular mirror trim panel back into place. Tap the fasteners secure with a rubber mallet if necessary.
