The rear window glass on your Chevy Silverado may need replacement if the glass or seal has become damaged. These two parts come out as a unit and, if you work carefully, you can save them for reuse if they are salvageable. Replacement glass and seals are available from an automotive glass dealer or some auto parts stores. You also have the option of replacing the glass with an aftermarket window, such as a slider.

Instructions

    1

Slide the seat in your truck forward as far as possible, then get into the truck behind the seat. Locate the retaining screws on the plastic molding that surrounds the window and remove it with a Phillips screwdriver.

    2

Remove the plastic molding and set it aside. Starting at one of the upper corners of the window, slide a flat screwdriver between the rubber gasket and the body of the truck.

    3

Pull down the rubber gasket and slide another flat screwdriver in behind the gasket about 2-inches from the first. Continue along the top and sides of the glass, pulling the gasket away from the body, while pushing out slightly on the glass.

    4

Push the top of the glass and the gasket out until you can pull the glass straight up and off the bottom of the window opening from the outside of the truck. Set the glass aside and discard the gasket.
