Montreal is pledging to put more hybrid taxis on the road, and soon. So far, Montreal has 4 hybrid taxis on the clock. That's four out of 4,595 taxis. Victoria has a hybrid taxi rate of 36%, Vancouver sits at 10% and Winnipeg has 26%.
As part of their new 20-year transportation plan, a committee will take up the issue. Recommendations on how to encourage more hybrids to be brought in will come out by the end of the year.
