The bed liner on a 2001 Nissan Frontier is designed to protect the bed of the truck from scratches, dents and other types of damage. Most bed liners are made out of a material that provides superior protection for the truck bed. Over time, the bed liner itself can wear out or get damaged and will need to be replaced. The bed liner can be replaced in about a half-hour.

Instructions

    1

Park the 2001 Nissan Frontier in a safe work area. Pull up on the tailgate latch and lower the tailgate.

    2

Locate the two rear brackets on each side of the tailgate, near the sides of each tail light assembly. Loosen and remove the 10 mm bolts from the rear brackets with a ratchet and a 10 mm socket. Pull the brackets off and place them on the ground. Screw the bolts back into the holes and re-tighten with the ratchet and socket because the bolts are what hold the tail light assembly in place.

    3

Locate the two 3-inch retainer clips at the rear of the bed liner, near the tailgate area. Slide the end of a pry bar under the bed liner in front of each retainer clip and pry the bed liner out of the clips.

    4

Climb inside the back of the truck and remove the front of the bed liner from the truck body by pulling straight up on the bed liner with your hands. The front of the bed liner will pop straight up and off the truck bed.

    5

Climb out of the bed of the truck and remove the bed liner from the sides of the truck bed with the pry bar. Each side of the bed liner has three long ribs that secure the bed liner to the side of the truck bed. Begin at the first long rib, on the front side of the bed liner. Slide the end of the pry bar under the bed liner and pry up on the bed liner until it pops loose from the bed. Move down the side of the bed liner to the next long rib and pry this section of the bed liner off the bed, as well. Move down to the third long rib and pry the bed liner off in this section, as well.

    6

Move to the other side of the bed liner and repeat the same process for prying the bed liner off the bed, as you did on the other side. Once the bed liner is completely free of the truck bed, have a friend help slide the bed liner out through the rear of the truck.

    7

Install the new bed liner by reversing the removal process: Slide the new bed liner into the back of the truck and push the bed liner down on the front and sides until the bed liner locks onto the truck bed. Pry the rear of the bed liner over the two rear retainer clips, using the pry bar, and re-install the two rear brackets and bolts.
