The 1996 Dodge Intrepid was equipped with a 3.3-liter, multi-port, fuel injected V-6. The ES model was equipped with an optional 3.5-liter, multi-port, fuel injected V-6. The 1996 Dodge Intrepid incorporated a parking lamp and turn signal lamp assembly that was separate from the headlamp assembly. There is not a method of installing only a lens on the parking lamp assembly, as they are factory sealed. Installing a new lens requires replacement of the entire parking lamp assembly.
Instructions
- 1
Raise the hood of the Intrepid. Remove the two headlamp mounting bolts from the top of the headlamp assembly, using the ratchet and socket. Pull the headlamp assembly outward. The outer edge of the headlamp assembly doubles as a restraint for the separate parking lamp assembly.
2Pull the parking lamp assembly straight forward. Remove the turn signal socket from the rear of the corner lamp assembly by turning the entire socket counterclockwise. Replace the turn signal bulb at this time, if necessary, by pulling it out with your hand and inserting a new bulb. Use a paper towel or clean rag to grip the new bulb upon installation. Do not touch the glass with your bare fingers. Remove the old parking lamp assembly completely from the Intrepid.
3Align the guide pin on the rear of the new parking lamp assembly with the pin hole in the fender. Install the turn signal bulb and socket into the parking lamp assembly, and rotate the socket until it snaps into place. Push the new parking lamp assembly into position.
4Install the headlamp assembly in front of the parking lamp, and tighten the two mounting bolts with the ratchet and socket. Turn the bolts until they are snug. There is no torque specification for these bolts, and using too much torque can break the plastic mounting tabs.
