HID (High-intensity Discharge) lamps became the standard headlight lamp for automobiles in the 1990s. These lamps have many advantages over older halogen lamps, such as improved visibility during nighttime use. These lamps are made up of a bulb that sits in an outer plastic housing called a "lens." It's a good idea to periodically test these lenses to see if the light lamp is as strong as it once was. If this is the case it is likely the result of a dirty lens.
