The 2006 Mistubishi Lancer was available in eight trim packages; ES, SE, Evolution IX, Evolution MR Edition, Evolution RS, Evolution SE, OZ-Rally, and Ralliart. The base model ES was equipped with a 2.0-liter SOHC in-line four-cylinder engine. A 2.4-liter SOHC four-cylinder was available as an upgrade. The Evolution models were equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine. The door panel removal on all eight trim levels is the same process. The 2006 Lancer was equipped with standard power door locks and windows.

Door Panel Removal

    Open the door you are going to replace the panel on. Sit in the seat near the door. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the center of the door handle cover, and remove the screw cap. Remove the handle cover mounting screw, using a Phillips screwdriver. Insert the ornament removal tool MB990784 into the center of the screw recess to unlock the door cover jaws. Insert the special tool under the rearward lip of the door handle cover and pry the cover outward and off of the door panel.

    Pry the power window switch plate up and out of the door panel. Remove the switch plate from the door panel by hand. Disconnect the electrical connectors on the switch plate by hand.

    Remove the screw from the door puller handle with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the puller handle insert by hand, using a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry it upward if needed. Remove the screw caps from the screws mounted at the front and rear of the door panel, using a flat-head screwdriver. Remove the front and rear door panel mounting screws. Remove the single screw from the upper rear corner of the door puller bracket, using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the bracket outward from the door panel.

    Pull the door panel outward away from the door frame, then upward to remove the panel from the door.

Door Panel Installation

    Install the door panel downward on the door frame and push the panel gently onto the frame. Install the front and rear door panel mounting screws by hand, to ensure proper threading. Tighten the screws snug with your Phillips screwdriver. Install the screw caps and press them in with your thumb.

    Install the door puller bracket in the center of the door panel, and tighten the single mounting screw snug. Install the door puller handle insert and tighten the mounting screw until it is snug.

    Install the electrical connectors onto the power window switch plate. Insert the rear of the plate downward into the door panel. Push the front of the switch plate down to lock it into the door panel.

    Install the door handle cover onto the door panel, pulling the door handle outward if needed. Insert the front edge of the cover into the door panel, then push the cover into the panel to lock it in place. Install the center mounting screw in the door handle cover, and tighten it snug. Install the screw cap with your thumb.
