The Gold Wing line of motorcycles from Honda was initially introduced in 1974. The Gold Wing 1500 emerged in 1988 and replaced the flat-four with a flat-six engine. The Gold Wing also came equipped with a factory-installed horn. However, Gold Wing owners sometimes prefer to add aftermarket trumpet-style air horns that can be heard more easily by other vehicles on the highway. One type of aftermarket horn is the three-trumpet system, which includes three trumpet-style horns mounted together in a single unit. Installing a three-trumpet air horn takes approximately one hour.

Instructions

    1

Remove the motorcycle's negative battery cable with an adjustable wrench.

    2

Unplug the factory horn's plastic wiring harness from the old horn.

    3

Remove the mounting bolt holding the old factory horn in place. Remove the old horn. Set the new horn in place and bolt it down with the adjustable wrench.

    4

Place the air compressor and its mounting bracket on the front fork and slide the mounting bolt through the bracket. Slip the nut onto the retaining bolt and tighten it with the adjustable wrench.

    5

Hook up the air hose to the back of the compressor and the back of the air horn. Use plastic ties to secure the air hose.

    6

Plug the trumpet horns into the plastic wiring harness. Replace the God Wing's negative battery cable.
