Ford half-ton pickup trucks have used the F-Series designation since the late 1940s. They were originally named F-1 before a rename in the 1950s to F-100. The F-150 nameplate originally denoted a heavy-duty F-100, but the F-150 designation stuck and is still used as of 2011. The wiper arms on a 2000 F-150 are spring-loaded to keep the blades tight against the windshield. A damaged wiper arm or an arm with a worn spring may need replacing.
Instructions
- 1
Note the location of the wiper blades where they rest on the windshield.
2Grasp the wiper arm and blade assembly and rotate it upward to the service position. Note that the spring tension in the arm will keep the arm in the raised position until it is pushed back against the windshield.
3Locate the small release tab at the base of the wiper arm where it attaches to the wiper linkage spindle.
4Lift up on the tab. Continue to hold the tab out while lifting the wiper arm straight up and off the spindle. Release the tab and remove the arm from the vehicle.
5Lift up on the release tab at the base of the replacement wiper arm. Position the arm over the spindle so that the wiper blades are in their original position on the windshield as noted previously. Push the base of the arm over the spindle until it is fully seated. Release the tab. Rotate the arm downwards so the blade rests against the windshield.
6Repeat the procedure to replace the remaining wiper arm.
