How to Let the Rear Window Down on an '87 K5 Jimmy

One advantage to owning a GMC K5 Jimmy SUV is the ability to lower the rear tailgate window. This convenient feature allows entry through the back of the vehicle for loading or unloading items such as groceries. The lowering back window also allows greater vehicle ventilation, because a 1987 Jimmy does not have rear side windows that lower. Drivers who transport unusually long items such as lumber will also appreciate this virtue.

Instructions

Insert the vehicle key into the ignition and rotate it clockwise until the vehicle power turns on. It is not necessary to start the vehicle.

Press down on the rear window button located on the front panel and to the left of the vehicle stereo system.

Discontinue pressing the button when the window has lowered to the desired height.
