The window regulator in your 2002 Jeep is used to help fix the window in the frame. If the regulator becomes damaged you will no longer be able to securely open and close the window with the window controls. If this occurs you should look to open up the car door assembly in order to replace the regulator. You can pick up a replacement regulator from your local auto store.

Instructions

    1

Locate the screws which are attached to the rubber trim around the edges of the window and the rear view wing mirror. Use a phillips-head screwdriver to remove the mounting screws on the trim. Use a trim stick to securely remove the trim from around the window.

    2

Use a wrench to remove the mounting bolts attached to the the black plate which is fixed to the door. Lift the plate away from the door. This will give you access to the regulator.

    3

Remove the bolts which fix the window pane to the window regulator. Disconnect the window pane from the regulator. Remove the bolts from the lower section of the regulator to remove it from the frame. Lift the regulator from the frame of the Jeep.

    4

Insert a new window regulator in to the frame of the Jeep. Fix the regulator in place by securing the mounting bolts which are attached to the bottom of the regulator.

    5

Reconnect the window pane to the regulator by securing them together with the hex bolts which connect the window to the door. Reattach the door assembly by following the removal steps in reverse.
