LAUNCH:TATA INDICOM LAUNCHES HIGH-SPEED WIRELESS BROADBAND IN BANGALORE
Tata Teleservices launched Photon+, their high speed wireless broadband service in Bangalore today. The company claims that this service will provide speeds of a maximum of 2.4 Mbps, and average browsing speeds of 300 kbps and above. At this point in time, the high speed service is available only in Bangalore, Chennai, and certain north-eastern states, but Mr. Sanjeev Khera, COO-Karnataka, stated that Tata Teleservices intends to cover the ten largest cities in India by the end of March, and over forty cities by the end of May, 2009.

LAUNCH: VIRGIN MOBILE INTRODUCES NEW CDMA SLIDER PHONE
Virgin Mobile today announced the launch of its slider handset, vGlide, with 65k color and 1.8 inch screen and FM radio. The phone comes with lifetime validity and a starter user kit worth Rs. 499 that offers prepaid connection, lifetime incoming validity, 499 free local minutes and 499 free local SMSes valid for 60 days.

LAUNCH: X-MINI II CAPSULE SPEAKER LAUNCHED
The X-mini capsule speaker has a revision and it comes with a larger 40mm driver, for better sound experience. The playback time is also tripled to 12 hours with a high capacity rechargeable battery. The X-mini has a modular 'Buddy-Jack' design that enables you to connect a row of X-Minis II together.

NEWS: NEW VERSION OF SAFARI WEB BROWSER IS AVAILABLE
Apple today announced the public beta of Safari 4 for Mac and Windows PCs. The Nitro engine in Safari 4 claims to run JavaScript 4.2 times faster than Safari 3. Some new features that should make browsing more intuitive and enjoyable include Top Sites, a visual preview of frequently visited pages; Full History Search, to search through titles, web addresses and the complete text of recently viewed pages; Cover Flow, to easily flip through web history or bookmarks; and Tabs on Top, to make tabbed browsing easier and more intuitive.

NEWS: GMAIL GETS BACK ONLINE AFTER OUTAGE
After a two-and-a-half-hour outage earlier Tuesday,  Google Inc.  says its free Gmail service is back up and running. Acacio Cruz, Google's Gmail site reliability manager, wrote in a Google blog post Tuesday that engineers are still trying to pinpoint the cause of the outage. "We know that for many of you this disrupted your working day," he added. "We're really sorry about this, and we did do everything to restore access as soon as we could. Our priority was to get you back up and running."
